Research Updates

Monthly seminar

The monthly seminar, convened consistently on the final Friday of each month, functions as an established platform for progress reporting and collaborative synergy. Each workshop is divided into two clearly defined segments, facilitating synchronized departmental updates alongside specialized scholarly discussions among laboratory members and external partners:

Part 1 is dedicated to internal updates, where the leaders of each research team present the group’s activities during the month and outline plans for the upcoming period.
Part 2 features research presentations delivered by invited speakers, one representative from each team, and PhD students of the lab, providing a platform for academic exchange and cross-group discussion.

1.1. September, 2025

A few snapshots from the first-month seminar organized by the UMMISCO SEA Network and COSMOS Lab in September.

Discussions were enriched by contributions from two international research teams—one from Thailand and Myanmar. The seminar featured presentations on shoreline change modelling, public transport accessibility, fishery management, biodiversity, robotics, and optimization, underscoring the network’s multidisciplinary and collaborative research focus.

1.2. October, 2025

The October seminar brought together a guest speaker and members of the research groups for a series of interdisciplinary presentations. The program covered a broad range of topics, including water resources-related studies, ecology, transport systems, robotics, and air pollution, providing a dynamic forum for sharing research results and fostering cross-disciplinary discussion within the network.

1.3. November, 2025

For November, the COSMOS Lab monthly seminar was not held, as several members were participating in the UMMISCO meeting in Morocco during this period. The seminar series resumed in the following month, with further updates communicated to the research teams and partners.

1.4. December, 2025

The December seminar featured a broad and interdisciplinary program, bringing together team updates and research presentations from invited speakers and PhD students. The talks covered topics in optimization and artificial intelligence, mathematical modeling, ecology and agriculture, and spatio-temporal analysis, highlighting ongoing research activities and fostering academic exchange across different research directions within the network.

1.5. January 2026

The January 2026 seminar is currently being prepared and will take place on 30 January 2026 at Building D, CEI, VinUniversity.
