About the Project

We are seeking a motivated Research Assistant to join our team on a cutting-edge project focused on Digital Twin technology for Flood Risk Resilience. This project aims to bridge the gap between advanced computing and disaster management, creating dynamic virtual representations of urban environments to predict flood risks and enhance community safety.

The Role

You will play a key role in developing technical solutions that translate complex data into actionable safety measures. Your primary focus will be researching and prototyping methods for Early Warning Systems (EWS) and long-term Resilience Planning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop & Integrate: Assist in the architectural design of a Digital Twin model, integrating real-time environmental data (IoT sensors, rainfall data) with terrain models.

  • Simulation & Prediction: Research and implement algorithms to simulate flood scenarios, visualizing impact zones to improve early warning accuracy.

  • Resilience Planning: Analyze simulation outputs to propose data-driven planning solutions (e.g., evacuation route optimization, infrastructure adjustments) that increase urban resilience.

  • Literature Review: Keep up-to-date with state-of-the-art research in Digital Twins, Smart Cities, and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR).

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for a candidate with a strong technical foundation who is passionate about applying technology to solve real-world humanitarian problems.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Academic Background: B.S. or M.S. in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in programming (Python, C++, or Java) and experience with data processing. Familiarity with simulation tools, GIS (Geographic Information Systems), or 3D modeling environments (e.g., Unity/Unreal) is a strong plus.

  • Research Interest: A demonstrated interest in Disaster Management, Climate Change Adaptation, or Smart City infrastructure.

  • Problem Solver: Ability to work with interdisciplinary concepts, translating engineering logic into environmental solutions.

Why Join Us?

  • Impact: Contribute to research that directly saves lives and protects property.

  • Innovation: Work with the latest technologies in Digital Twins and AI.

  • Growth: Opportunity to publish research papers and potential for future PhD sponsorship [if applicable].
