Khanh Hoa province is making significant strides in its green transformation agenda, leveraging cutting-edge scientific and technological solutions to achieve its 2024–2030 sustainability goals. A recent collaboration between the provincial government and VinUniversity underscores the pivotal role of science and innovation in this endeavour.
VinUniversity’s Centre for Innovation has introduced a suite of scientific initiatives aimed at bolstering Khanh Hoa’s green transition:
- Smart Aquaculture Systems: Development of sustainable aquaculture models utilizing Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies to enhance efficiency and environmental compatibility.
- Green Tourism Standards: Establishment of comprehensive criteria for evaluating eco-friendly accommodations and tourist destinations, accompanied by specialized software for effective management.
- Low-Carbon Energy Management: Implementation of innovative energy management systems tailored for hotels to minimize carbon emissions.
- Water Pollution Monitoring: Creation of detailed maps to monitor water pollution levels in Nha Trang, facilitating targeted interventions.
- Digital Twin for Green Transportation: Deployment of a digital twin platform to oversee and optimize the province’s public bus transportation system, promoting sustainability.
These initiatives are designed to be scalable and replicable, setting a precedent for other regions aiming to embark on similar green transitions.
During a recent working session, Associate Professor Dr. Phan Thi Thuc Anh, Director of VinUniversity’s Centre for Innovation, presented these projects to provincial leaders, emphasizing their alignment with Khanh Hoa’s green transformation objectives. The session also included discussions with leaders from various departments and the People’s Committee of Nha Trang City, focusing on the progress of the green transition plan and the integration of VinUniversity’s projects.
A significant outcome of this collaboration was the handover of the digital twin platform for sustainable transportation management, marking a milestone in the province’s journey towards a greener future.
To ensure the success of these scientific initiatives, provincial leaders have acknowledged the need for supportive policies and frameworks. This includes facilitating the implementation of green projects, providing financial incentives, and fostering an environment conducive to innovation.
The partnership between Khanh Hoa province and VinUniversity exemplifies how scientific research and technological advancements can drive sustainable development. As these projects progress, they are expected to serve as models for other regions, demonstrating the tangible benefits of integrating science into environmental policy and planning.
